I wish I could go back to before I started baking and try this. Alas, I'm at the point where I don't find anything about baking "daunting" except clean up, LOL.
When tenting with aluminum I think I need more instruction. I have a cast iron pan but I don't have a Dutch oven. I'm trying to visualize this but it isn't really clear, any help from anyone doing it this way would help!? Thanks đŸ¥¹
Good luck! We're still meandering along on our own baking journey. It's been strewn with quite a few absolute duds, but there's nothing like bread you made yourself. And the kitchen smells wonderful!
You need to really pinch the edges together so no steam escapes.
If you have a Pullman tin with a lid, you can also try baking your bread in that. It works pretty well in terms of creating steam for your dough, cos the lid helps trap the moisture inside, a bit more effectively than a foil tent does.
We also find a Pullman easier to handle - we only started our own bread journey a few months ago and we had trouble trying to lift a heavy and piping-hot pan in and out of the oven. Of course, you do get better results with cast iron, so it's a trade-off.
If you decide to try a Pullman, you'll need to shape your dough into a sandwich loaf rather than a ball, but here's a simple way to do that :
Yum. Just made this and I have almost eaten the whole loaf đŸ¥°

Thanks for your post and your endless enthusiasm!
Can’t wait to bake it!!!!
Lovely - enjoy !
A simple no-knead bread should be on everyone's 'I Can Make This' list. So simple and so very delicious.

You can check out this video on how to make a tent for your dough - there are probably better ones out there, but it gives you a rough idea :

Before we put the lid on the Pullman and pop it into the oven, we give the dough a good spray of water too.
Thank you for the loaf video as well this is so very helpful!
