This looks fantastic and although I was around in the 80's I don 't remember ever having it. Chicken Cacciatore was my go to chicken dish with Rotel® tomatoes and green chilis. I still make it today.
I remember my mother making this recipe when I was a wee youngin’ . She doesn’t cook much these days. Next time I see her, I will ask her for her copy and she will happily give it to me. And to be honest, I am kind of giddy about having a copy that originates from the era and was well used and loved.
This is great! I am planning a Spanish themed dinner party and I think this is going on the menu! Thanks for sharing the history behind the dish. Great post.
Wow! I never knew this was rooted back to two NYC Chefs. Love the flavors and the history behind this delicious recipe! I also enjoyed the updates you’ve made with the dried fruit swap, and also not using wine also. Thank you for sharing, Sheryl-!!

I have and love the Silver Palate cookbook!! And my fam loves the chicken Marbella so I’m going to have to try your version!
You are a gem Betty.

Thank you for reading and your kind comment.
I adore the Silver Palate. Personally, never made the chicken. Their first book was my favorite and one I brought to Italy with me.
Excellent post Sheryl, I’m not familiar with the chefs but their book sounds like an important reference.
I like the flavour profile in this dish and the look of those golden prunes.
Thank you Lisa.
Such a classic! Looks (and sounds) fabulous!
Thank you Kerry.
